Individual Therapy
Individual therapy is when a Staff therapist conducts a one-on-one session with a client, virtually or in-person. These appointments typically span 45-50 minutes in length and the frequency of sessions will depend on a variety of factors, which will be determined after the first initial intake appointment. This is a special time for the individual to focus primarily on her or his issues, pains, struggles, questions. Counseling is not “magic” or “hanging your dirty laundry out” for others to see. It is a sacred time through which the individual can explore some of the deeper parts of oneself within a trusting, confidential relationship with the trained therapist.
We have specially trained Staff therapists who provide compassionate and competent care to people who are are dealing with specific issues such as depression, anxiety, trauma, stress disorders, personality disorders, life transitions, grief and loss, substance use counseling, relationship concerns, family issues, LGBTQIA+ concerns, and many other areas of focus.
In addition to psychodynamic and behavioral therapies, some Staff therapists have particular expertise in various modalities such as EMDR, Art Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Object Relations, Psychoanalytic, Narrative Therapy and others.
Sometimes, if the individual desires, a significant other may join in a session to mutually explore some shared issue. We have Staff therapists who are genuinely concerned and highly trained, possessing different skills and approaches to accompanying individuals in their life work.
