Latha Ravi

M.Div, MSW, LMSW

Rev. Latha Ravi works at Samaritan Counseling Center, Grace Counseling Center and is part time at Cass Community United Methodist Church in Midtown Detroit. Rev. Latha Ravi has served as a Pastor in the United Methodist Church for the past 20 years. Latha recently completed her Master of Social Work with an emphasis in Clinical Practice and Mental Health (2018) at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Before that she received her Master of Divinity (1997) from Episcopal Divinity School in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She also graduated with Honors from the University of Michigan with a degree in Asian Studies (1990). Latha was born in Madras (now renamed Chennai), India. While growing up in India, she and her younger sister were raised speaking English. Her family moved to the United States in 1976, just in time to join the rest of the United States in the Bicentennial celebration. The oldest child of an interfaith, inter-lingual, inter-regional marriage (of a Telugu Baptist mother and a Malayali Hindu father), she quickly learned two different histories, myths, cultures and traditions within her own family. She lives with her two little dogs, Oliver and Sydney.
